ABOUT OUR PRODUCTS
Our silk and leather products are designed on the Central Coast of California,
90 miles south of San Francisco. Our studio is a charming 1930's house in central
Santa Cruz and is the design center for Carmella D'Oro. Our selection of scarves,
home accessories and leather luxury apparel is inspired by the intense beauty
of the California Coast. Assisted by apprentices, designer Carmella Weintraub
oversees the creation of art and craft. Original designs, fine craftsmanship
and attention to detail are the hallmarks of our product. For our apparel
we use a system of sizing specifically for the mature woman.
The Scarves
The scarves we produce are handscreened in Italy by master silk-screeners,
who have practiced this craft for centuries. Located in Como, the silk capital
of Italy, the factory carefully produces crepe de chine and crepe georgette
scarves with rolled hems and perfected finishes. Scarves are offered in
many designs, shapes and sizes.
The Wraps
The shrugs we offer are printed in Italy as well and are lined in coordinating
silk chiffon with a bias satin binding. Some coordinate with the scarves.
The ruana is made with silk/rayon outer fabric with a handscreened print
lining. It is finished with rayon tassels on each corner and topstitched
for extra stability.
Leather Jackets
The jackets we offer are sized specifically for the mature figure
and are produced in Florence, Italy by a skilled family-run production
company. The devotion to quality and beauty in the collaborative
process of design and production make these jackets very special.
The linings are handscreened in Italy and each has a matching scarf.
All leather is guaranteed to be byproduct and no cruelty.
Decor
Our pillow covers are handmade in a private workshop in Santa Cruz.
Construction details include cord edge, invisible zipper, lining,
and high quality pillow inserts. Small table scarves are handpainted
and finished with a serged edge.
